Summary

CVE-2023-49168 is a Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Better Messages – Live Chat for WordPress, BuddyPress, PeepSo, Ultimate Member, and BuddyBoss. This issue, which allows stored XSS, stems from improper neutralization of input during web page generation. Specifically, user-supplied data is not adequately sanitized, leaving the door open for attackers to inject malicious scripts into chat messages. This vulnerability affects versions of the plugins from n/a to 2.4.0. Successful exploitation could result in unauthorized access, data theft, or other malicious activities. It is recommended that users of these plugins upgrade to the latest, secure versions as soon as possible.
