Summary

CVE-2023-49097 impacts ZITADEL's identity infrastructure system, where maliciously crafted email links can be exploited. The vulnerability arises from the use of the Forwarded or X-Forwarded-Host header in building button links for password resets. If a user clicks a malicious link in an email, an attacker can intercept and use the secret code to reset the user's password and potentially take over their account. However, accounts with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) or Passwordless enabled remain secure against this attack. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.41.6, 2.40.10, and 2.39.9.
