Summary

CVE-2023-48312 affects the capsule-proxy reverse proxy for the capsule operator project. This vulnerability enables privilege escalation through a missing authentication check in versions prior to 0.4.6. Clusters with the `anonymous-auth` Kubernetes API Server setting disabled are susceptible, as token review can be bypassed, potentially granting unauthorized access. However, this vulnerability cannot be exploited if only client certificates are utilized for authentication. System administrators are urged to upgrade to version 0.4.6 to mitigate this issue.
