Summary

CVE-2023-48310 is a vulnerability affecting TestingPlatform, a testing platform for Internet Security Standards. Before version 2.1.1, the platform fails to filter user input correctly, allowing the acceptance of Nmap options. Specifically, the option to create log files is accepted, even without a host name. These log files are created as root and, if they already exist, are rendered useless, resulting in a denial of service. Moreover, an attacker can input any CIDR blocks for scanning, potentially targeting 0.0.0.0/0 or local networks. Version 2.1.1 includes a patch to address this issue.
