Summary

CVE-2023-48300 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Embed Privacy plugin for WordPress. This plugin, designed to prevent the loading of external content, is vulnerable due to insufficient sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the `embed_privacy_opt_out` shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, posing a significant security risk. The vulnerability is patched in version 1.8.1.
