Summary

CVE-2023-48233 is a vulnerability affecting Vim, an open-source command line text editor. The issue arises when the count after the :s command exceeds the capacity of a long variable, leading to an abort with e_value_too_large. Although the impact is considered low, user interaction is necessary for exploitation, and a crash may not occur in all situations. The vulnerability has been rectified in commit ac6378773 and is now included in Vim version 9.0.2108. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to mitigate this risk, as no known workarounds are available.
