Summary

CVE-2023-48219 is a newly discovered cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the TinyMCE rich text editor. The core undo/redo functionality and other APIs and plugins contain a mXSS flaw. Text nodes within specific parents are not properly escaped during serialization, allowing the insertion of malicious snippets. These snippets bypass the initial sanitization layer and can trigger XSS attacks when the special internal marker is removed and re-parsed. TinyMCE users are advised to upgrade to versions 6.7.3 and 5.10.9 to address this issue. No known workarounds exist for this vulnerability.
