Summary

CVE-2023-47537 is a newly disclosed vulnerability that affects various versions of Fortinet FortiOS, including 7.0.0-13, 7.2.0-6, 7.4.0-1, and 6.4. This issue involves an improper certificate validation, enabling a remote, unauthenticated attacker to carry out Man-in-the-Middle attacks on the FortiLink communication channel between a FortiOS device and a FortiSwitch. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it allows unauthorized access and data interception during the encryption process. Successful exploitation could lead to sensitive information disclosure or even system takeover. Fortinet strongly advises users to update their FortiOS software to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
