Summary

CVE-2023-47163 is a vulnerability affecting Remarshal prior to version 0.17.1. This issue allows for unlimited expansion of YAML alias nodes, making Remarshal susceptible to a Billion Laughs Attack. Processing untrusted YAML files can cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. In simpler terms, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability by manipulating a YAML file to trigger an infinite loop, leading to excessive memory consumption and potential crashes, resulting in a DoS condition. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest version of Remarshal to mitigate this risk.
