Summary

CVE-2023-47122 is a vulnerability affecting Gitsign, a keyless Git signing tool using Sigstore. Versions of gitsign from 0.6.0 to 0.7.9 included used an upstream Rekor API for fetching public keys instead of the local TUF client. In the event of a compromised Rekor server, gitsign clients could be misled into trusting invalid signatures. It's important to note that the default public good instance (`rekor.sigstore.dev`) was not compromised. The issue was mitigated in version 0.8.0, but no known workarounds are currently available for older versions.
