Summary

CVE-2023-47118 is a critical vulnerability affecting ClickHouse®, an open-source column-oriented database management system. A heap buffer overflow issue was identified in the ClickHouse server, which can be exploited by sending a maliciously crafted payload to the T64 codec in the native interface, accessible by default on port 9000/tcp. This bug causes the ClickHouse server process to crash, and no authentication is required for the attack. Notably, an attacker can also trigger this exploit via the HTTP protocol, but they need valid credentials first. The vulnerability has been addressed in versions 23.10.2.13-stable, 23.9.4.11-stable, 23.8.6.16-lts, and 23.3.16.7-lts.
