Summary

CVE-2023-47114 is a vulnerability affecting the Fides open-source privacy engineering platform. The issue lies in the Fides web application where data subject users can download their personal data in HTML format. However, there is no input validation from connected systems and data stores, allowing for potential HTML injection. This vulnerability can be exploited for phishing attacks or malicious JavaScript code execution when using the `file://` protocol in a data subject's browser. The exploitation is limited to rogue Admin UI users, malicious connected system/data store users, and data subject users who submit malicious data themselves. The vulnerability has been addressed and patched in version 2.23.3.
