Summary

CVE-2023-47020 is a newly discovered vulnerability in NCR Terminal Handler v.1.5.1. This issue allows an attacker to escalate privileges through a chained Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attack. The vulnerability is exploited by an undisclosed function in the WSDL, which lacks essential security controls and can accept custom content types. By crafting a specific request involving user account creation and adding the user to an administrator group, an attacker can successfully exploit this vulnerability and gain elevated access. This poses a significant risk, as administrator privileges enable an attacker to make changes to system configurations and potentially cause extensive damage.
