Summary

CVE-2023-46889 is a vulnerability affecting Meross MSH30Q devices running version 4.5.23. During the setup process, the MSH30Q creates an unsecured Wi-Fi access point to connect to the internet via a user's Wi-Fi network. The device requests the network name (SSID) and password, which are transmitted in cleartext between the MSH30Q and the mobile application. Although the Wi-Fi password is encrypted, the decryption algorithm has a public component, allowing attackers to decipher the Wi-Fi password and gain unauthorized access to the user's network. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to users' network security.
