Summary

CVE-2023-46814 is a binary hijacking vulnerability affecting the VideoLAN VLC media player before version 3.0.19 on Windows operating systems. The issue lies within the uninstaller component, which inadvertently executes code with elevated privileges from a location writable by standard users. This security flaw enables attackers to gain arbitrary code execution as the SYSTEM account. Users are advised to update their VLC media player to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
