Summary

CVE-2023-46589 is an Input Validation vulnerability affecting Apache Tomcat versions 11.0.0-M1 through 11.0.0-M10, 10.1.0-M1 through 10.1.15, 9.0.0-M1 through 9.0.82, and 8.5.0 through 8.5.95. These versions failed to parse HTTP trailer headers correctly. An excessively large trailer header could cause Tomcat to perceive a single request as multiple requests, resulting in potential request smuggling when deployed behind a reverse proxy. To mitigate this risk, users should upgrade to Tomcat versions 11.0.0-M11 and above, 10.1.16 and above, 9.0.83 and above, or 8.5.96 and above, which address the issue.
