Summary

CVE-2023-46471 is a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Space Applications Services Yamcs version 5.8.6. An attacker can exploit this weakness by injecting malicious code into the scriptContainer text variable of the ScriptViewer. Successful exploitation could allow the execution of arbitrary code in a victim's web browser. This poses a significant risk, particularly in a web application context, as it can lead to data theft, unauthorized access, or even system takeover. To mitigate this risk, users are advised to update to the latest version of Yamcs or implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to block scripts from untrusted sources.
