Summary

CVE-2023-46256 is a heap buffer overflow vulnerability affecting PX4-Autopilot, a flight control solution for drones. Versions 1.14.0-rc1 and prior are susceptible to this issue due to a missing `parserbuf_index` value check in the parser function. Malfunctions in sensor devices can trigger the buffer overflow, leading to unpredictable drone behavior. Malicious actors can also exploit the vulnerability independently, potentially writing up to the maximum `unsigned int` size of data to the heap memory. At the time of publication, a patch has not been released to address this issue.
