Summary

CVE-2023-46254 is a vulnerability affecting the capsule-proxy reverse proxy used in the Capsule kubernetes multi-tenancy framework. This issue allows ServiceAccount tenant owners to list Namespaces of other tenants they share the same name and kind with, even if they are in different Namespaces. This exfiltration vulnerability arises when capsule-proxy runs without caching (--disable-caching=true) and both tenant owners are ServiceAccounts. However, this vulnerability does not enable privilege escalation on outer tenant resources since Kubernetes RBAC enforces this. Users are urged to upgrade to version 0.4.5 to mitigate this risk. No known workarounds are available for this issue.
