Summary

CVE-2023-46232 affects the era-compiler-vyper used by zkSync Era, a layer 2 Ethereum scaling solution. Prior to version 1.3.10, a bug caused the first immutable variable for specific Vyper contracts to be overwritten due to unset indexes in the ImmutableSimulator. This issue occurs when allocating more 256-bit words for Strings or Arrays than are initialized. The result is the first immutable value being replaced, leading to potential data loss. Upgrading to version 1.3.10 and redeploying affected contracts is the only solution to resolve this vulnerability.
