Summary

CVE-2023-46132 is a vulnerability affecting Hyperledger Fabric, an open-source permissioned distributed ledger framework. The issue allows an adversary to alter the way peers parse transactions by cross-linking them, without changing the computed hash of the block. This results in peers having different world states, making it possible for an attacker to manipulate a peer into avoiding the processing of a specific transaction. The vulnerability arises from the insecure way Fabric hashes transactions, by simply concatenating them. Users are advised to upgrade to versions 2.2.14 or 2.5.5, which include additional validations to detect potential cross-linking issues. No known workarounds exist for this vulnerability.
