Summary

CVE-2023-4599 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Slimstat Analytics plugin for WordPress. This issue permits authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts via the 'eeb_mailto' shortcode in versions up to 2.1.7. The vulnerability is caused by insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, leading to the execution of arbitrary web scripts whenever an injected page is accessed. This poses a significant security risk, as attackers could use this vulnerability to steal user data or carry out other malicious actions. It is recommended that WordPress users update their Slimstat Analytics plugin to the latest version to mitigate this threat.
