Summary

CVE-2023-45984 is a newly discovered stack overflow vulnerability affecting the TOTOLINK X5000R V9.1.0u.6118_B20201102 and TOTOLINK A7000R V9.1.0u.6115_B20201022 firmware versions. This issue is caused by an error in the function setLanguageCfg, which fails to properly validate user input for the lang parameter, leading to a stack overflow condition. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted language configuration data to an affected device, potentially causing it to crash or allowing unauthorized code execution. The impact of this issue could range from denial of service to more serious consequences, such as unauthorized access or data theft.
