Summary

CVE-2023-45869 is a vulnerability affecting ILIAS 7.25 (from September 12, 2023), allowing authenticated users to execute arbitrary operating system commands remotely. This is possible when a highly privileged account interacts with an XSS payload. The vulnerability lies within the execQuoted() method of ilUtil class (/Services/Utilities/classes/class.ilUtil.php), which uses the exec() function to execute injected commands, potentially compromising the ILIAS installation and the underlying operating system's integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
