Summary

CVE-2023-45819 is a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Notification Manager API of TinyMCE, an open-source rich text editor. The flaw lies in TinyMCE's unfiltered notification system, which is used for error handling. Under specific conditions, a malicious user can inject malicious content into the editor, which, when triggered, leads to the unfiltered display of HTML in a notification. This can result in arbitrary JavaScript execution, posing a significant security risk for users. The vulnerability has been addressed in TinyMCE 5.10.8 and TinyMCE 6.7.1 through HTML sanitization in notifications. It is strongly recommended that users upgrade to the patched versions as no workarounds are available.
