Summary

CVE-2023-45813 affects the Torbot open source network intelligence tool, where the `torbot.modules.validators.validate_link` function employs a python-validators URL validation regex with exponential complexity. An attacker can craft a malicious URL to trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) on the system by exploiting the vulnerability in the regular expression. This issue has been resolved in version 4.0.0 of Torbot, and users are strongly advised to upgrade. Currently, there are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
