Summary

CVE-2023-45360: A critical cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability was identified in MediaWiki versions before 1.35.12, 1.36.x through 1.39.x before 1.39.5, and 1.40.x before 1.40.1. The affected components are "youhavenewmessagesmanyusers" and "youhavenewmessages" i18n messages, related to the MediaWiki:Youhavenewmessagesfromusers feature. Attackers could exploit this flaw to inject malicious scripts into a victim's browser, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data theft, or other malicious activities.
