Summary

CVE-2023-44998 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the josecoelho, Randy Hoyt, steveclarkcouk, Vitaliy Kukin, Eric Le Bail, and Tom Ransom Category Meta plugin versions 1.2.8 and below. This issue allows an attacker to trick a user into making unintended actions on a web application, such as modifying account settings or making financial transactions, by crafting specially crafted requests. The attacker needs to have previously gained user's trust, for instance, through social engineering or phishing attacks. Successful exploitation can lead to unauthorized modifications or unintended actions in the user's account. Users are advised to update their plugin to the latest version to mitigate the risk.
