Summary

CVE-2023-4496 is a newly identified Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Easy Chat Server in its version 3.1 and earlier. This issue arises due to insufficient encryption of user-controlled inputs. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious scripts into the mtowho parameter via the /body2.ghp (POST method) endpoint. Successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive user information or even takeover of user sessions. It is strongly recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of Easy Chat Server to mitigate this risk.
