Summary

CVE-2023-4494 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Easy Chat Server version 3.1. Hackers can exploit this issue by sending an excessively long username string in a GET request to the register.ghp file. The server fails to validate the input, resulting in a buffer overflow. Attackers can take advantage of this to execute arbitrary code on the affected machine, potentially leading to a serious security breach. Users are strongly advised to update to the latest version of Easy Chat Server to mitigate this risk.
