Summary

CVE-2023-44828 is a newly disclosed buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the D-Link DIR-823G A1V1.0.2B05 router. The issue lies in the CheckPasswdSettings function, which handles the CurrentPassword parameter. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending specially crafted input to induce a buffer overflow, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can result in the router becoming unresponsive, rendering it ineffective until a proper patch is applied.
