Summary

CVE-2023-44402 is a vulnerability affecting Electron, an open-source framework for creating cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. This issue only impacts apps with the `embeddedAsarIntegrityValidation` and `onlyLoadAppFromAsar` fuses enabled, which are currently only supported on macOS. The vulnerability allows an attacker with write access to the filesystem where the app is located to edit files within the `.app` bundle, bypassing the fuses' intended protection. Unfortunately, there are no workarounds for affected apps, and users must update to a patched version of Electron to mitigate the risk.
