Summary

CVE-2023-44393 is a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the open-source photo gallery application Piwigo. Prior to version 14.0.0beta4, the `/admin.php?page=plugins&tab=new&installstatus=ok&plugin_id=[here]` page contained an insecure injection of the `plugin_id` value from the URL into the HTML page. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by crafting a malicious URL containing a specially crafted `plugin_id` value. Upon visiting the URL, administrators would have the malicious HTML and JS code injected into the page, allowing the attacker to execute their code. This vulnerability is present only on the admin page, and only affects users who are logged in as administrators. Version 14.0.0beta4 includes a patch to mitigate this issue.
