Summary
CVE-2023-44378 affects the gnark zk-SNARK library, which provides a high-level API for designing circuits. Before version 0.9.0, this library had a vulnerability that allowed for multiple valid decompositions of certain in-circuit values. Specifically, for small values of 'a' and a modulus 'r', there existed a second decomposition for 'a+r'. This was due to an overflow in the field where these values were defined. Upgrading to version 0.9.0 resolves this issue and does not require changes to calls to value comparison methods.
