Summary

CVE-2023-4398 is an integer overflow vulnerability affecting multiple Zyxel firmware versions, including those used in the VPN feature of the ATP, USG FLEX, USG FLEX 50(W), USG20(W)-VPN, and VPN series. This issue, found in the QuickSec IPSec toolkit, can be exploited by unauthenticated attackers to trigger denial-of-service (DoS) conditions on affected devices. Maliciously crafted IKE packets are the suspected cause. Successful exploitation may lead to device instability and potential network downtime. Users are strongly advised to apply the relevant patches to mitigate this risk.
