Summary

CVE-2023-43662 is a vulnerability affecting the ShokoServer media organizer for anime. The `/api/Image/WithPath` endpoint, which is accessible without authentication, can be exploited for arbitrary file reading. The endpoint accepts the `serverImagePath` parameter without sanitization, allowing attackers to manipulate the input and read files on the server. This vulnerability is particularly dangerous in the Windows installer, where ShokoServer runs as administrator. The issue has been addressed by the removal of the `/api/Image/WithPath` endpoint in commit `6c57ba0f0`, and users are advised to limit access to this endpoint or patch their installations until a patched release is available. This vulnerability was discovered and reported by the GitHub Security Lab and is also tracked as GHSL-2023-191.
