Summary

CVE-2023-42862 is a vulnerability affecting multiple Apple operating systems, including macOS Ventura, tvOS, iOS, and iPadOS. This issue involved out-of-bounds reading of memory, which was addressed through improved input validation. Despite the fix, a potential consequence of processing an image is the disclosure of process memory, posing a potential security risk to users. The vulnerability has been rectified in the respective versions of macOS Ventura 13.3, tvOS 16.4, iOS 16.4, and iPadOS 16.4. Users are strongly advised to update their systems to mitigate this risk.
