Summary
CVE-2023-42849 is a kernel memory handling vulnerability affecting various Apple operating systems, including iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1, macOS Monterey 12.7.1, watchOS 10.1, iOS 16.7.2 and iPadOS 16.7.2, macOS Ventura 13.6.1, and macOS Sonoma 14.1. An attacker who has already gained kernel code execution can potentially bypass memory mitigations, making this a serious concern. The issue has been resolved through improved memory handling in the mentioned updates.
