Summary

CVE-2023-42803 is a vulnerability affecting the open-source virtual classroom software, BigBlueButton. Prior to version 2.6.0-beta.2, BigBlueButton was found to be susceptible to unrestricted file uploads. The issue arises due to the insertDocument API call failing to validate given file extensions before saving them. Consequently, an attacker could upload malicious files, posing a significant security risk. Version 2.6.0-beta.2 of BigBlueButton includes a patch to address this vulnerability, and no known workarounds are available for older versions.
