Summary

CVE-2023-42457 affects Plone's plone.rest package in versions prior to 2.0.1 and 3.0.1. The vulnerability arises when the '++api++' traverser is inadvertently used more than once in a URL, causing handling to become increasingly time-consuming, thereby decreasing server responsiveness. This issue can be mitigated by patching with plone.rest version 2.0.1 or 3.0.1. Series 1.x remains unaffected. As a workaround, one can redirect '/++api++/++api++' to '/++api++' on frontend web servers like Nginx or Apache.
