Summary

CVE-2023-42447 is a vulnerability affecting the blurhash-rs library, a Rust implementation of Blurhash used to encode images into ASCII strings. In version 0.1.1, the parsing code suffers from multiple out-of-bounds accesses on untrusted input, potentially leading to panic conditions. Maliciously crafted blurhashes, particularly those containing multi-byte UTF-8 characters, can trigger this issue. Version 0.2.0 includes a patch, but its implementation requires user intervention due to API changes. No workarounds are currently available.
