Summary

CVE-2023-42439 is a serious vulnerability affecting GeoNode, an open-source geospatial data platform. Starting from version 3.2.0, this issue permits a User-controlled SSRF (Server Side Request Forgery) attack. Instead of adhering to access controls, an attacker can trick the application into believing they are accessing a whitelisted address. In reality, they exploit the browser's handling of `@` or `%40` symbols as credentials, allowing them to request internal services on port 8080. This can result in the unintended disclosure of internal data. Version 4.1.3.post1 is the patched version that mitigates this risk.
