Summary

CVE-2023-42319 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Geth, also known as go-ethereum, up to version 1.13.4. When the --http and --graphql flags are used, a remote attacker can cause memory consumption and daemon hang by crafting malicious GraphQL queries. Despite the vendor's assertion that the graphql endpoint is not intended to withstand attacks or handle heavy traffic, this vulnerability poses a significant risk to affected systems. Successful exploitation can result in a denial-of-service condition, potentially impacting the availability and functionality of the Geth instance.
