Summary

CVE-2023-4206 is a use-after-free vulnerability impacting the Linux kernel's net/sched: cls_route component. This issue can be leveraged for local privilege escalation. During the process of route4_change(), the entire tcf_result struct is copied into a new filter instance, causing problems when updating filters bound to classes. When tcf_unbind_filter() is called on the old instance in the success path, the filter_cnt of the referenced class is decreased, allowing it to be deleted, leading to a use-after-free situation. It is strongly advised to upgrade to the commit b80b829e9e2c1b3f7aae34855e04d8f6ecaf13c8 to mitigate this vulnerability.
