Summary

CVE-2023-41910 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting lldpd versions prior to 1.0.17. Malicious actors can exploit this issue by crafting a specific CDP PDU packet with manipulated CDP_TLV_ADDRESSES TLVs. This results in an out-of-bounds read on heap memory in the cdp_decode function located in daemon/protocols/cdp.c. Successful exploitation could potentially lead to memory corruption, and further attack vectors could be explored by an intruder. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest version of lldpd to mitigate this risk.
