Summary

CVE-2023-41840 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting Fortinet FortiClientWindows version 7.0.9. This issue permits an attacker to execute a DLL hijack attack by introducing a malicious OpenSSL engine library into the untrusted search path of the application. The vulnerability arises due to the FortiClientWindows software failing to properly validate and verify the library in question, leading to potential code injection and privilege escalation.
