Summary

CVE-2023-41101 is a vulnerability affecting OpenNDS before version 10.1.3. The captive portal in OpenNDS contains a flaw in get_query function of http_microhttpd.c. This issue fails to validate the length of query strings in GET requests, leading to a stack-based buffer overflow in older versions (9.x) and a heap-based buffer overflow in more recent versions (10.x). Exploitation of this issue can result in a Denial-of-Service condition or, in worse cases, Remote Code Execution. OpenWrt master and OpenWrt 23.05 have resolved this vulnerability by updating OpenNDS to version 10.2.0.
