Summary

CVE-2023-40567 is a vulnerability affecting FreeRDP, an open-source implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. This issue lies in the `clear_decompress_bands_data` function where there is no offset validation. Consequently, it enables an Out-Of-Bounds Write scenario. Successful exploitation of this flaw could lead to critical system data being overwritten. Users are strongly urged to upgrade to FreeRDP versions 2.11.0 or 3.0.0-beta3 to mitigate this risk. Unfortunately, there are currently no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
