Summary

CVE-2023-40547 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting the Shim boot support. The flaw arises from the Shim trusting attacker-controlled values during HTTP response parsing, enabling an attacker to execute out-of-bounds writes. This results in a completely controlled system compromise. Exploitation is limited to the early boot phase; an attacker can only exploit this vulnerability by performing a Man-in-the-Middle attack or compromising the boot server.
