Summary

CVE-2023-40167 is a vulnerability affecting Jetty versions prior to 9.4.52, 10.0.16, 11.0.16, and 12.0.1. This Java-based web server and servlet engine permissively accepts the `+` character before the content-length value in an HTTP/1 header field, contrary to RFC specifications and common server practices. This could potentially lead to request smuggling if Jetty is used in conjunction with a server that does not terminate the connection after sending a 400 response. No known exploits have been reported, and the current versions (9.4.52, 10.0.16, 11.0.16, and 12.0.1) contain a patch for this issue. No workarounds are available since there is no known exploit scenario.
